Yeah, I’m from Washington State, so when I go back I indulge, but here in Japan they throw you in prison for about six years for a single joint.
Weird because up until 1947 hemp/cannabis was very common in Japan. I don’t think a lot of people smoked it, but cannabis was widely used in Chinese medicine. I think in the 60’s it got a bad rep here because it was associated with disobedience and laziness.
Meth is the most commonly used illegal drug here and was also invented here. But if you get caught with it the judge will usually go lighter on you because you can always say you were only using it because you wanted to work harder.
I wish more countries would try Switzerland or Portugal’s methods. It seems like it worked pretty well in those countries.
