Day 1
*This was the very first novel I wrote. I started it in 1999 and finished the first draft in 2003. After several years of failed attempts to shop it around to literary agents and publisher I finally gave up. I still think it is a good first novel, so I’ve decided to share it here on Medium. Enjoy!
Chapter 1 (page 2)
As the years passed for him in Trajico Bay the local community of about two-hundred residents would often ask Geezer to chair the community meetings. Geezer’s grandfather had once filled the same roll in Trajico Bay before he passed along with Geezer’s grandmother in 1968 so it was natural for Geezer to replace him once Kind Cloud Farm was opened. Though Geezer’s day to day life was fairly relaxed usually consisting of him drinking a few beers and smoking a little marijuana while discussing whatever topics happened to come up at Jeri’s Tavern, he did take the job of community chairperson and main overseer of the annual Hip-In Festival very seriously.
Each year in the small meadow and forest across the street from Jeri’s Tavern, Kind Cloud Farm would hold the Hip-In Festival. A music, art, food, and dance celebration that attracted between two and three thousand hippies from all over the United States and Canada to…
