I have a lot of respect for Chomsky, but in terms of Climate Change experts I'd listen to what Michael Mann has to say rather than Chomsky. Yes, things are bad, but according to Michael Mann, assuming we do a lot more in the next 10-20 years in regards to reducing and eventually eliminating the amount of fossil fuels we burn society most likely won't collapse. I imagine Michael Mann would consider Chomsky's opinions on Climate Change part of the Doomist group that as he points out in his book The New Climate War, can be as bad as the out right Climate Change deniers.
