I fast sometimes, but more because of the health benefits. Staying hydrated is the most important thing for me. I did a nine day lemon juice fast based on some really bad pseudo-science and ended up badly dehydrated. It also gave me gallstones.
I still fast though every three months or so for a day or two. But I drink a lot of water now and usually don’t do them during the summer.
