He competed in Taekwondo tournements as a teen and tried Kick Boxing briefly as an adult, but gave it up. He has been an professional MMA announcer since 1997 though. He's never competed in MMA. I think he retired from the Martial Arts before modern MMA even really existed. At outside of Japan and Brazil maybe.
