It is far harder to become a successful writer than you can imagine. I’ve been tossing these disappointing numbers about how hard it is to succeed financially as a writer for a while. But to recap: Only 7% of those who set out to write a book ever finish the first draft. Only 3% are able to traditionally publish their book. Only 2% of writers make a living at it.
